AWS Backup for S3 Gets Direct Access to Your Backups—No Restore Needed

AWS Backup now lets you create S3 Access Points for instant read-only access to your backup data using standard S3 APIs, perfect for targeted file recovery, compliance checks, and forensic work without touching your protected vault. This works with both snapshot and continuous recovery points across select AWS Regions, and your recovery points stay locked down from deletion while an access point is active.

AWS Backup Brings Air-Gapped Neptune Protection to Three New Regions

AWS Backup now supports logically air-gapped vaults for Amazon Neptune in Asia Pacific (Melbourne), Europe (Spain), and Europe (Zurich)—giving you immutable, encrypted backup storage that's locked by default. You can copy backups across accounts and regions, share vaults via AWS RAM, and require multi-party approval for vault access, making disaster recovery and compliance way easier.
