Autodesk pulled off an impressive re-architecture, splitting a massive Elasticsearch 7.1.1 setup into four separate OpenSearch Service domains while keeping 2.3 billion documents intact. They nailed it using Migration Assistant and a smart routing layer that sends queries straight to the right shards—basically the data engineering equivalent of a perfectly organized filing system.
