AWS Lambda Pumps Up SQS Polling: 5x More Event Pollers Now Available
AWS just dropped a sweet upgrade for Lambda's Provisioned Mode with SQS event source mappings—you can now spin up 10,000 event pollers instead of the old 2,000 limit. That means you can hit 100,000 concurrent invocations per ESM, perfect for building lightning-fast, mission-critical apps like real-time order processing and IoT pipelines without splitting workloads across multiple ESMs. The feature is live across all AWS Commercial Regions, and you can configure it via Console, CLI, SDK, CloudFormation, or SAM. Just remember you'll pay based on Event Poller Units (EPUs) for what you use.
