AWS Lambda Gets Queue Mode for Self-Managed Kafka – More Parallelism, Less Partitioning
AWS Lambda now supports queue-based consumption for Apache Kafka event sources, letting you scale processing beyond partition limits without over-partitioning topics or rewiring your producer code. This uses Kafka share groups (available in Apache Kafka 4.2+) to run multiple concurrent pollers on the same partition, boosting throughput during spikes and improving resilience for workloads like video encoding, fraud detection, and telemetry ingestion.
