AWS Outposts Gets Compact: Second-Gen Single-Rack Now Available

AWS just dropped second-generation single-rack Outposts—a self-contained 42U unit packing up to 2,688 vCPU and 100 TB of EBS storage for edge computing in tight spaces. It supports the latest x86 EC2 instances (M7i, M8i, C7i, C8i, R7i, R8i, and accelerated networking variants) and delivers the same AWS APIs and management experience as multi-rack setups, making it perfect for manufacturing, gaming, and other industries where space and power are limited.
